Hilary Jung is a
Vancouver-based collaborative pianist, choral musician, and music educator
whose work is rooted in meaningful collaboration, artistic curiosity, and a
deep love of sharing music with others. With a passion for both collaboration
and performance, she enjoys building supportive musical partnerships and
creating engaging experiences for musicians and audiences alike.
As an active freelance
pianist, Hilary collaborates with singers, instrumentalists, choirs, and arts
organizations throughout the Lower Mainland. Her work includes rehearsals,
performances, auditions, examinations, competitions, festivals, recordings, and
other collaborative projects. She values the unique process of working closely
with each musician and enjoys helping her fellow peers perform with confidence.
Through thoughtful preparation, adaptability, and expressive music-making, she
is committed to supporting each collaborator’s individual artistic goals.
Choral music has been
an important part of Hilary’s musical life since she began accompanying school choirs
at the age of twelve. She has since worked with numerous vocal ensembles in
rehearsals, concerts, festivals, and educational programs. She currently serves
as the choral pianist for The Richmond Singers and works with the Vancouver
Extracurricular Music Society (VEMS), supporting elementary school choir
programs throughout Vancouver.
Alongside her performing career, Hilary is a dedicated music educator. She teaches at Showcase Academy, The Arts Conservatory, and maintains a private piano studio, working with students of various ages and experience levels. Her teaching emphasizes curiosity, creativity, and the development of a lifelong appreciation for music.
Hilary holds a
Bachelor of Music with a Major in Piano from the University of British
Columbia, where she studied with Professor David Fung, Professor Lucas Wong,
and Professor Rena Sharon. She also holds an ARCT in Piano Performance from the
Royal Conservatory of Music. In 2025, she received two
first-place awards at the Vancouver Kiwanis Music Festival.
Additionally, Hilary attended the Anchorage Chamber Music Festival in 2024 and Orford Musique Academy in 2025, where she further developed her artistry through intensive study and collaboration with fellow musicians. In 2026, Hilary served as an intern pianist at the UBC Summer Vocal Workshop, where she received specialized training in opera accompaniment and collaborative piano.
